Let it out, let it out,
but there is no need to shout,
others do enough of that
so what’s this all about?

It’s about the pain that grows
to the level of your eyes,
it’s about the road that ends
with no place to turn around,
and how a fire still burns
after the flames are doused.

It’s about the full stop
before the line begins,
the paragraph that carries on
with a different theme
and it’s about the heartache
you did not expect to feel.

And it’s about nothing,
the less instead of more,
it’s about faith
that falls to the floor,
the forward march that circles round
and takes you back again,
and how the sun can’t rise
the same as yesterday.

It’s about the sleep you need but never get,
A rose that never blooms in untended soil,
a lover gone long before the bed is even made,
and how the stars don’t shine on a crime filled land.

It’s always and forever just about life
and how the dead live still remembering!

Wow, did you let it out, Helen -- I felt the frustration and pain. I agree, it is about all those things....and each has his/her own way of letting it out. I applaud your well expressed poem. I think the whole world is beginning to let it out about now, but I still have hope.
