hi pipsters, recently returned from a community service project to Thailand. this is dedicated to my Thai hosts. thanks for reading

****************************
I learned "mai pen rai" reminds to laugh and forgive

I learned whisky is a language spoken when words fail

I learned to sweat cheerfully in the hot sun

I learned that a brick makes a wall and a stroke helps paint it

I learned sky's blue and grass's green-brown tease and tug to showcase beauty

I learned there is more Thai food than tom yam and every dish is delicious

I learned "Loy Kratong" is a meaning song that warms the heart

I learned smiles and laughter are the only necessary ingredients to express your heart

I learned I should express "I love you" as often as the Thai kids

I learned kids should have a right to be carefree

I learned the Thais are professionals in construction, in singing and dancing and in being excellent friends

I learned happiness lies in simplicity

with love, thank you very much

*************
"mai pen rai"--Never mind in Thai
"Loy Kratong"--traditional Thai song
whisky--the passion of northeastern Thais!

I enjoyed the lessons shared, thanks.

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

kaile, I enjoyed this very much.  We lived in Indonesia for three years -- simplicity, yes, I understand your lesson and it's a good one.  It changes a person when they find it, doesn't it?  Glad you're home safe.   ......jo
