Winters rose was planted Some forty years ago So I am told From that time on He’s always been old.
Through all the seasons since His love like a freezer Remains outside In the cold.
The rose’s petals frozen One by one did fold Till but one was left As in a dream It was foretold.
Now he is old Yet the dream Still unfolds And winters rose Has no petals left No blooms to hold.

A rose is a rose is a rose! ~ and so it shall remain! Swish, swish with my magic wand...
...Now the leaves are back and the rose shall bloom again and may all its dreams come true!

A very moving poem.

Roses! Yes, they are such confusing things. How beautiful they are on a stem of thorns!

How very lovely....much enjoyed the read. ~Smiles & Hugs, Nancy~
Something tugs at me, I've no doubt of that. Something from the sea, whichever one I'm near. When I stray too far from beachland, it calls me back

A lovely, sad write. But, I wanted to tell you....we have a wild rose that appeared growing out of the leafless, seemingly lifeless stub of last year's old rose -- little miracles happen -- now it is taking over the whole garden with gads of blossoms, deep wine colored.
