A Newfoundland fisherman's song about their kinship to the great blue whales.....
The chorus is to be sung by a whole pub full of jolly fishermen tipping thier brew.

                   MY BROTHERS DEEP

Half a lifetime from the final years
and the tides keep rolling in
in the mighty waves I hear
their spirit calling me again.
It's the mighty cetacean
calling me from the deep
In the wind my ancient kin
keep whispering their peace

Chorus:
Mr brothers deep keep calling my soul.
I hear'em cry as the sloop keel rolls.
Over the top I watch'em blow
my brothers deep keep calling my soul.
The wheelhouse rocks the big swells grow
and my brothers deep keep calling my soul.

The windsongs play and the sheets fill up
the brine mist stings my eyes.
I'm over the top with a roaring rush
the waves fall into the sky.
Cross the rising waves the sun smiles in
the blue-gray greets the dawn
my brothers deep with the restless wind
keep pulling me into their song

Chorus:
Mr brothers deep keep calling my soul.
I hear'em cry as the sloop keel rolls.
Over the top I watch'em blow
my brothers deep keep calling my soul.
The wheelhouse rocks the big swells grow
and my brothers deep keep calling my soul.

Well I knew all along that we were one
where the big water meets the sky.
Now I gotta smile on the morning run
cause we're rolling side by side.
Out of the deep there's a wild ol song
The great blue song of pride
When the trick is done and the run moves on
I still hear it in my mind

Chorus:
Mr brothers deep keep calling my soul.
I hear'em cry as the sloop keel rolls.
Over the top I watch'em blow
my brothers deep keep calling my soul.
The wheelhouse rocks the big swells grow
and my brothers deep keep calling my soul.

Ain't doin nothin at all
Just answerin the call
Kinda driftin away from it all~~~~~

Excellent Eric...would love to hear this put to music.
Hugs~

Something tugs at me, I've no doubt of that.
Something from the sea, whichever one I'm near.
When I stray too far from beachland, it calls me back

Now that is a whaler's song worthy of clinking a mug of blue to a "blue!"
