A Twin Of Mine

how do you tell the ocean
of the longing in your soul
and the emptiness in miss
I find myself sitting next to
another hollow bleached bone
noticing it a twin of mine
just another empty shell
that rings of the dancing water
I listen to my lost something
where only grains drip by me
another season of discontent
and wonder of the rocking tide
here it is I wait in silence
for the great healer, time, to come
and gulf breezes glass over in hours
then shift to turn its back to me
betraying me to the parching sand
where memories and hopes flood me
in this constant judas blowing
damn this sponge heart of mine
unable to give up the taste of salt
even now in my beg of release
as the blue current passes me by

I feel like this today. Your writing just gets more and more beautiful.

Love this one Helen...
and hey...we're all in there cheering you on.
Hugs~

Something tugs at me, I've no doubt of that.
Something from the sea, whichever one I'm near.
When I stray too far from beachland, it calls me back

I truly relate to this, because I had just such an experience not long ago. Sitting in a restaurant I noticed a fellow in the next booth, whose body language said he was feeling withdrawn and sad....thinking he might be poem material I took a closer look, only to realize that I was picking up my own reflection in a pane of glass..... THAT got my attention!
