~* Happy Father's Day Mom! *~Here it is Father’s Day again,This day always brings to mind, The teasing that children did to my son, Taunting him, and being so unkind. When Father’s Day came around, At Boy Scouts or at his school, They would always make fun of him, And try to make him feel the fool. Some man would always substitute, Whenever it called for a father and son, See, I was another, single working Mom, Divorced, and working two jobs for fun! No support, called for long hours, Every single penny I made was spent, Keeping my son busy with activities, Just covering the heat and rent. I figured if I kept him busy Got him involved in things with men, Being around a woman most of the time, Wouldn’t hurt now and again. But kids always made fun of him, Until one day he made me so proud. It was at a father and son picnic, Amidst a great, big crowd. The three-legged race was announced, Calling all the fathers and sons. He said, “Come on Mom let’s enter”, “Trust me, it will be so much fun!” I didn’t know how to disappoint him, So off to that gate we went, But a leader at camp stopped us, For fathers and sons the race was meant. I've never been so proud as that day, He looked at me, so veyr sad, Wiping a tear, he simply said, “Well, this here lady is my Dad!” She does all the things those Dads do, She can fish, and throw a ball, Just because her name isn’t Dad, Doesn’t mean she isn’t one at all. She told me when my Dad went away, She was now my Daddy too, So don’t be so mean to her okay? We just want to enter the race us two. Well we entered that darn old race, We were laughing and having fun, It wasn’t until everyone started cheering, We realized that race we had won. So to all the single Moms out there, Happy Father’s Day to each of you, I know you do a fantastic job, Bless you for being two parents too. To All The Single Moms Out There ~*~ Happy Father's Day ~*~ "Start where you want to finish!" Feel free to quote me, I may become famous. |

Sharon, great poem! I was a single mom for five years with my daughter and had similar experiences even though for a shorter period of time. Happy Father's Day, dear lady! |

Very touching post. I would agree wholeheartedly. My wife was a single mom until I married her. Now we have my stepson and our son, both of whom I simply adore and appreciate the fleeting moments I see them when not working 70+ hours/week. I shall have to wish my wife a Happy Father's Day, too. Sharon, Wow! You ARE the best. This really touched my heart. I know you had enough love to make up for it all. And your son knew it too. That was awesome. Happy Father's day(a little late). This is a smooth read. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

This is so heartwarming and beautiful and just down right happy. Happy Father's day to all those loving mothers who do their very best. Hear, hear. Love the photo too. Susan Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |

AWWW Sweetie.. I can't believe it took me this many days to find and see this great poem. But then you can understand that as a single mom I am time challenged. Thank you so much for reposting this for me. I loved it and have had moments when my kids too have given me tribute. I appreciate you! Remember me with a smile on your face, or please don't remember me at all. |

I posted it for you and glad you saw it Lucie, single mothers are angels I tell ya, angels. That was a true story by the way To everyone else - thanks for reading a re-run, I wanted her to see this and smile, for a single parent should be proud they are giving a child the best parent they can be, which sometimes is better than two.
