Coming Home

Treasured time theived by unyielding hands.
Father Time sleeps not, bawling dogged demands.

Hundreds number nights theived by the tide
when I should have slumbered at her precious side.

And, the child left wishing for my hasty return
became a young man without a father to turn.

The sun crowns mountains as it rests once more
casting shadows across this lonesome floor

where the woeful heart and burdened soul roam
and endless longing resides in want of home.

Soon, the day to arrive when lamentations subside
and weight of despair will be seized and tried.

Foul desolation to fall with the gray edge of night
as our home again fills with love's tested light.
