there was always
now
now
now

then the gift
of the fall
of
not-now
not-now
not-now

     that we could sip
along with now
now and not-now
mixing
layered as we chose

but now is slippery power
and not-now is textured control
and it became too easy
to pick only
             one

now never died

we ignore it
running in the mists of not-now

now--
find it
swing on it's branches
stalk in it's fields

we have both
to use

live now
dream not-now

a marriage
    in us

I agree with Iliana.  This is a great, thought-provoking poem.  I enjoyed reading it.  Thank you.

Been there, done it!  Loved these lines:

and it became too easy
to pick only
             one

now never died

we ignore it
running in the mists of not-now

dammit for the way it is.

brian

I like the way you see things and write so clearly from the feeling.  I wish you would post more often!

Brian,
Whoops, I actually misspelled your name to be Brain and had to fix it!  Would I have been wrong to have left it that way?  I don't think so...With simple words, you brought forward very complex issues.  I enjoyed this immensely,
