I couldn’t have known
when young and bold
the world would turn upside down
and I’d be still on the ground
alive in the middle of crime
as a witness, a crier,
and receiver of negative energy.

It’s like a brick wall and I am a car
speeding full throttle on course
to crash, bend, buckle, my composure
and land in the throes of it all.

I couldn’t have known
when young and bold
the aftermath of my mistakes
or how it would feel
to love, to lose,
and live with my memories.

Now I know all I couldn’t have known
now is the time to rebel
and decide for myself
I am too tired
to pretend I am happy to live.

And yet I go on, we all go on,
with feet on an upside down world
but I want to go back to that place again,
the place where I couldn’t have known.

It’s about me tonight, about how I feel,
for five minutes, ten years, from now
I’ll be thinking again of so many things
I really couldn’t have known.

We learn and we grow, I’ve outgrown my clothes,
and I don’t want to buy any more!!

I think we all feel this way sometimes, for different reasons, but it would be nice for me to go back now, to more innocent times, before I knew. Yes, I'd like that.

Thank you all so much for your kind comments. I try not to lapse into writing "about me" without an uplifting message but it helped at the time.
