"Music was one of my parts ... Like my blood. It was a force already with me when I arrived on the scene. It was a necessity for me, like food or water."

few souls drink notes the way you did
liquify the soul, with nothing ever hid
your heart's light warmed my very soul
your love for humanity, my dream and goal

yes, music was your sole food it seemed
your reverence for the harmonies life beamed
brilliantly upon the vinyl and the TV screen
and my stereo will never be the same, Ray
it sits silently, in your honor today

Kacy,
Soul to soul I like sole! And thank you for honoring his.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

a lovely tribute to one of the best ever!
(I shut off the TV and the news this week.  I didn't know.)  Thank you for your remembrance of this blessed man.

Larry, thanks for that.
Sade, sometimes I leave mine off for a week, but it seems the net doesn't let me forget what's happening. And of course, the radio waves.

I share the feelings.
Thank you.

I was never disappointed by his performance.
He will be missed.

I did not know.  It has been a bad day in a bad week.  I remember him shaking my hand; I felt him see into me and let me see into him.  I will shed more than one set of tears tonight.

Thank you for telling us.

Martie and Marge, Ray Charles was one of the greatest musicians of all time, and I can hear him now, echoing within my heartbeat.

Kacy, thank you so very much for penning your admiration for Ray Charles.  I cannot imagine that there is one living soul in this nation who can hear who did not love this man.  Beautiful tribute... ....jo

What a beautiful tribute, my friend... This is such a week of sorrow for America the Beautiful... How could someone unable to see help us see so clearly?

(big angel hugs) Ray Charles was one voice I remembered most of all as a little boy. I was always amazed at the passion in his vocals for "America" and his version is by far my favorite of that song! (sigh) I have always had so much respect for him and always will, as the blues and ballads will always be crooning from the throats of the countless hundreds he's inspired! God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
