It’s a bad place to be, in the middle of free
alone to decide where next I must be,
never to move or stay here cocooned,
fed yet hungry, unfeeling and numbed.

It’s a bad place to be, on the edge looking down
alone to survey past deeds on the ground
or stuck halfway in the middle of dreams
alone to not know whether they will be real.

It’s a bad place to be, and I know I am right,
when born and bred into untruths and lies
and now made to know an ultimate truth
but not ever to own indisputable proof.

And yet, and yet, we all leave too soon
for always, forever, there’s only one moon
that rises to herald the end of our days
before knowing love in the purest of ways.

Not by my will does the moon hide away
for here I must stay till I come of age
to freely join hands with undying love
and gladly look down from way up above.

The ground, my land, my earthly abode,
sometimes can be too hard on the soul
but someone is writing the last chapter, line,
and the moon too soon will rise in the sky.

The moon, my moon; how will it be,
sad and blue or smiling at me?
