Why I Say Truth When I Can

When I’ve said all there is in me,
why-why-why do I always have
The Question, that nagging popcorn hull
between my mind’s teeth –
Did I say enough?
   -- reveal too much?
-- hurt someone in some esoteric way?
Should I have spoken at all?
If you see four, count again:
There’s one and many,
an amalgam of so many doubts
they’ve melded to an unvoiceable blur.
That’s why I don’t apologize often,
not because I’m arrogant,
but rather the reverse:
I don’t know where to start.

And I do say all there is in me,
maybe too often for my own ease
or anybody else’s. There are times
when I may screen it under nuance
hoping to say more than I state,
but at least I do say, and later
when that predictable repercussion
clunks into me like a bowling ball
off the emotional return belt,
at least I know I rolled it down the center,
whether I took out all the pins or not.

"The Question, that nagging popcorn hull
between my mind’s teeth –"

Just one of the several terrific analogies (which speak so much) in this impeccable poem.  I say too much, too, sometimes, but not nearly so well!   .....jo

Ed

I see you were up late last night with your thoughts for company.  And now you got me thinking...that's a good thing.

Apologies aren't graded on style, my friend... all that matters is the sincerity. *S*

I would say that your incredible imagery would make the world's finest poet weep in envy... but we know who that is... and there's no need for you to waste tears envying yourself. *G*

This is soooooooooo marvelous~

And let it be said, from one who knows, you don't throw curves ... but strikes~

And ... when it has been necessary, you've made every attemp to re-rack the pins with the sincerity that is you ...~

Ed,
Honesty isn't always the easiest, but you know that... I respect people more than ever when they try to set things right.  Can one really do that unless the cards are out on the table? (Of course, it helps to have both players cards out there!)  Enjoyed this heartfelt write extremely.

I find in my life that an honest apology is always best voiced (or written as quickly as it comes to life) for the best intentions kept silent may just float away...
very deep write king of the rats *smile* enjoyed the journey the read takes one on

I don’t know where to start.

~*~

and I've nothing to apologize for...
but just in case I ever need to,
i.e., for not reading you ALL the time...

accept the fact...

I just don't know where to start.
