I drew my boundaries
territory markings
finding space for my paces
odd first, then even
before curling my toes
inward

east
     in the rising sun
west
     where shadows walk
north
    while desperate winds blow
south
     my feet lay trapped

indolent
leaden-footed
under trappings
of a whirlpool in which
swerve some expendable
nothing really matters
thoughts

I’m in my rectangle
and it is time to turn

flush

dammed water will rush
down
breaking free
torrentially
to clean the dirt under
the thick nails
of my toes

in their
naked coldness
they would further
curl

You stammer so well! Your way of looking at things is completely unique -- that's something I value both in people and in poems.

you do string words together in absolutely captivating ways, I love the "west where shadows walk" line so very much.

Of course, I live in "the west," but west can be anywhere, can't it.

As usual, I enjoyed the reading of your poetry.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Another very fine write, m'friend.

And you say English is your second language, eh? You wield it better than the natives LOL.

Spectular writing, Sudhir!  (but I can't say I'm surprised.  Your writing is always amazing!) I truly enjoyed your poem.
