Unconditional Love

There’s a break in my heart
and a hole in my soul
and tears come unbidden to eyes
when unconditional love burns through
the human façade of me.

Not from the love but the turning away
I now do most every day
after our walk around the park
and driving the long way back.

Like a man turns away from a woman
when a bond so firmly exists
so I return the favour in kind
to the adult I raised from a puppy.

And my heart breaks, it simply breaks,
but this life isn’t just about me
and only the heartless can separate two
so reliant each one on the other.

A broken heart pumps double the pain
and circulates water through veins
when turning away from so precious a gift
as unconditional love!

I’ll be there tomorrow but she doesn’t know;
do you think there’s a hole in her soul?

painful,

I'm assuming this is real. Unconditional love remains; because that is the essence of what it is. Sometimes it proves itself in its sacrifice, in the breaking of its heart, and the willingness of its heart to continue to love.

Heartaches are indeed painful. Peace.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

We seem to be able to handle everything that's thrown at with the exception of love and I wonder why.
