I keep drinking doubles
Til I'm finally broke
Then go back to my girlfriends
To sing some songs I wrote

I sing about waitin
But she's not hearing me
She wants some committment
not some guitar player's plea's

So I'm drinking once again tonight
Wishin I didn't wanna  change
Booked for life on a dreamer's flight
I usually fly away
But I see a need in her eyes
That I just can't explain
She looks for me in the morning light
And I'm there everyday

I leave to find another drink
Lookin for a quick way out
So I tab'em at my favorite bar
To flush away my doubts.

I tried to love her my way
But she needs more than rhymes
She don't need a minstrel
With wandering on his mind

So I'm drinking once again tonight
Wishin I didn't wanna  change
Booked for life on a dreamer's flight
I usually fly away
But I see a need in her eyes
That I just can't explain
She looks for me in the morning light
And I'm there everyday

I gotta fight my instinct
To follow the changing moon
Got my guitar at my feet
Can hear it playin a tune

To set my mind at ease
Longing for the open road
Can't force myself to leave
