At the window I stand looking out at the sun and how it encroaches on imbedded goodness to highlight the pain and the longing for love there to be seen, to be known, understood. The edges begin to crinkle and curl like passion as it begins to take hold and I thought to shout out, to warn the sky, of impending disaster but then I said, “No!” The sun too clever won’t ever let go and the sky so blue, so needy, unloved, will embrace and believe in connectedness until the sun moves to discover the new. Now at the window I look at the moon and I think of the semblance of love, a chilly embrace, a surface smile, and I try to believe in warmth. It happens that way when love’s for a day and the sun plays happy with sky but the moon unstable can be re-aligned and a mind can pretend anything. I look at the moon with sadness, regret, but I know how the sun can hurt so I turn away, look the other way, and hope that the sky doesn’t burn! Helen / 9 June 2004 |

On one level, this poem seems like a lament for the love of a person; but on another level, it seems much, much deeper. I'm going to take a second look and see what I end up with. Beautiful writing in any case. ![]() |

Hi, jo - You're right on that one level and the deeper bit perhaps in the soul, the timeless soul. Thank you for the read. |

Helen~ This is so very beautifully done~ Such a pleasure to plunder the layers~ 'The sun too clever won’t ever let go and the sky so blue, so needy, unloved, will embrace and believe in connectedness until the sun moves to discover the new.' Oh my ... the thoughts running through my head after this read~ Thank you~ *Huglets* ![]() ~*Marge*~ ~*When the heart grieves over what it has lost, |

Thank you, Marge, for such a lovely comment. One day we'll get to the start of it all and then I wonder what we'll think. |
