Pages New

I awake and think, to sort my feelings
wondering if your thoughts
might be one or two of me.

Selfishly I place you in the position
of being, here, where I wish you to be
knowing that you are needed elsewhere.

I wonder how long my slate can remain blank,
the calendar always a maybe or perhaps a never,
as I step carefully never wanting to disappoint

But needing more to close the distance.
I use to write love letters, the Lady always in wait,
never fearing, always knowing her Knight
would some day return and the moments of now
would begin...

She is there, still, her words a treasured diary
waiting for the pages new, to be written.

I am sure my wife would agree with you.  I work so much my little boy started calling his older brother daddy.  I am trying to get home sooner, stay home more.  It seems that when things calm down, then I have to go away for a week in some distant, remote town.  I worked nearly 100 hours this week.  I saw my wife briefly a couple of times in there.  I am lucky to have my oak, my wife, standing behind me to catch me when I fall.  Without her my life would be a trainwreck.  Yes, she misses me, too, but she knows I do it to give here and our kids the best and does not reflect how I feel about her other than I do it largely, for her.  Sorry about the long post.  This one really bit me hard.  Thanks for reminding me of how it must feel on the other side.

Kevin
