Cream and coffee brew,
Abundant, earths torrential wake;
Foam, sprinkles, stir-stick twigs
give rush to season due.

Rapid toothpick tree
with arms stretched like rake,
Dash upon the flood melt bank
Etch its soil free.

Whirl it, shake it, add to mix
Shore cappuccino to land enrich.

Oh River, fertilize my mind with your silt
Wake me with your sands of time.

Is this about the Dayton flood or the current conditions where you live?  Interesting analogies -- the river must look like how I like my coffee.

Not about anything really;  just remembering the richness of the land by the river... The river was high last week, leaving this image.

(Yes, it does look exactly like your coffee!  Do you still want to drink it?)

remembering how the river has been dammed north of here and wondering about the trade-off; it has been nice not to have had a flood for umteen years, but waters carry with them a wealth also...  Just wondering;  thinking about rich land by the Nile;
thinking about how kindred spirits combine and their blessings;  Gee, I guess this was about something afterall... Hm.  I guess I've been in orbit tooooo long!

I really enjoyed the imagery of your poem.  You are a talented poet.  It was quite fun to read.  I felt as if I was standing on the bank.  Thank you for sharing it.

Your poetic friend,

Kevin

Kevo,
It is I who should thank you for reading it!  Ditto.  I think you're quite talented!   I'm glad you felt like you are standing on the bank.

Cathy, I love how a weird mix of views and emotions
can bring out such amazing poetry!
The comparisons and images in this are awesome
Ah well, the whole thing is awesome!
Great job!

Alyssa,
I needed that... and appreciate all the wonderful comments.  The more I read this one, the more I like it.  It's me all over (except I don't drink coffee!) I hope others enjoy it as you have,
but I sometimes layer too much, making it trying to understand.   Thanks, Sweet One.  I'm glad you liked it.

So happy that I peeked in and found your River poem, dear Sadie. This is one of my favorites of yours, quite definitely.

hmmmm .... the cappuccino from now on will always bring a thought of love from Sadie ...

Love you, God bless you. I'll be back in July and as ..... a grandmother! Busy busy getting ready!

Margherita,
I'm so happy for you, Grandma!  I've really missed your writing-I don't know if it's just because I haven't been online as much or if you just haven't been posting as much. Wondered how you were...
You're so sweet!  I appreciate your kind words.  I hope I have given the cappuccino a flavor of love and not muddy water!  That would be awful!
Take care.  I want to hear some Grandma poetry when upon your return!
             love, Sadie

froggy,
Would you like some cream and sugar?  Glad you enjoyed!  Have a good weekend. I'll catch you later...I look forward to catching up on your poetry.

Any catfish in that brew?     Excellent job, m'friend.  Never, ever settle on your last poem...use every new one as a springboard to the next...just like this!

Eric, thank you!  Those words mean a lot!

Sunshine,
Perhaps one or two.  ( By the way, what happens to fish when a river does flood?   Do the fish get an extra surge of oxygen?  Just wondered that...do you know? or are athey harmed?)  Take care, Sunshine.  Enjoyed your comments.

You lie in the depths
watchng breeze ripples
dapple the water's skin.
Even as you show them
so clear, so clear,
in the shimmering
of your words I begin
to see what you see,
those dark shapes
that swim between.....

Ratleader,
Well observed, my friend.  The cappuccino is awakening.
                Thanks, Sadelite
