in the shadows

My love for you will not die;
it is splashed on walls,
a room closed off within my soul,
a simple goal in life
is never entering that room again;
not that there is much space
it is a place where I stored all the flotsam,
the harsh debris I cleaned up quickly
from the hurricane of your passage through my life,
images,
memories,
the mental snapshots of good times and bad,
the sad silly shards of dreams,
the undone seams of karmic tapestries
piled moldering in back corners
on the paint stained floor,
nearby the door the bloody dagger
finally removed
from underneath ribs that tried in vain
to shield my heart.
I know the walls once were brightest white,
now smeared in sloppy red,
I wanted life finally to be filled with light;
I had thought back then
of new beginnings,
when hope briefly brought new visions to my sight
and I realized I had grown tired of living
always in the darkest folds of night's shadows.

Now I know one of the reasons you prefer the dark.

My words....
are inadequate.
Simply,
I am wishing you hope.

Moon or no, daylight's best for love....though lust does have a place in darkness. And if that's all there is, that knife is waiting, like you say.

Harsh but good, this one.

icebox,
   I've known that room.  After some writing and a really good friend, I finally began my Spring cleaning.  I feel thirty years better now.
   I send you hopes of a gentler room.
