There was no pain in his eyes as he left me No sorrow in his voice despite our past, despite our love he regretted that he needed me that he loved me so and no amount love returned would heal a pride now gone he was everything to me and i even more to him. but his ego was an evil foe so he left without a tear i told myself to be strong 1 that it was for the best but even now i know the truth that now, i am noone |

"and no amount [of] love returned would heal a pride now gone" such a captivating line in such a melancholy poem...as the song says...one is the loneliest number that there ever was... a most painful ending... |
