standing on a shadow's lace

Vincent Sees

Vincent sees the dripping night
within velvet layers of candle light
his impression of the stars alone
could be a color from a brush unknown
he himself could be a canvas bare
waiting for a touch to take him there
shadows flicker flame’s dance unfelt
yet, his heart is a tinted waxen melt
will grace alter the surface in adorn
to be created in a deeper painting worn
candles and stars become the muse
as white sweeps across bold new hues

Helen...He sees, yes...and it seems that you do too.  This is a beautiful tribute to his art and yours.

"Vincent sees the dripping night

and

"candles and stars become the muse
as white sweeps across bold new hues"

Love those lines Helen.  You paint the artist masterfully.  Very much enjoyed...

It was full of stars.

Your tribute would have brought him joy.

Anyone can see the beauty of Van Gogh, but it takes the sensitivity of an artist to feel his wonder--just as you have described.

Miss you lady.

Your words enabled me to see his artistry yet again.
