Yes it is true,
From same mother we were born
And from same father sired
Yet ages stretch between us
From oldest to youngest
From fist to last
Seventeen years lie between

How then can this be?
That our hearts wander together
Laughing out loud in merriment
Over a simple moment of trivial silliness
Or crying in shared ache
Over a tender touch of sorrow
Or sitting quietly in awed silence at the hand of God

Conversations between us never tire
If a conversation is needed at all
And I can cry out all my Disappointments
And stomp and yell and scream
It doesn’t seem to matter
You love me still
Holding my hand in proffered comfort

You say we knew each other before
Ever we set foot upon this earth
Promising to find one another
Remembering even here, this bond we shared
And it is true, these words you speak
For with you I am home
And know the promise was there

And when the time comes
And our paths again part
Wait for me dearest one
For it shant be long
Before we walk together again
Hand in hand
Best of friends and Sisters eternal

Gorgeous, Susan.  I have known relationships like this, too.  Your lucky girl, you.

My sister and I are 11 yrs apart, oldest and youngest, and we have always said the same...that most probably I was her mother in another life as I have such a need to take care of her...

Very touching poem and it touchs my heart.

Having two sisters of my own who I'm
very close to I felt this both heart
and soul...sisterhood is a treasured
gift and you've captured that so
sweetly. I hope you and your sister have
many more fond memories and loving times
together!
Take care,
Amy
