I heard to-day a meadow lark
sadly understood it's song.
Inhaled the fragrance of a rose
left the blossom where it belonged.
Beheld the set of orange sherbert sun
honoured the quiet rising of the moon.
Stared in awe at heaven's shooting stars~
bedding down in clouds too soon.
I heard this eve a nightbird's call
wistfully understood it's yearning.
To capture elusive lasting love
Before this grand world stops turning.

Soft as the brush of velvet across the fingertips.  Tender in its yearning.  Lovely.
