I try to forget you Put the past way behind But little did I realize The road will still whined The memories are still fresh Yet fading just a bit Alone in the dark All the candles are lit The sun still rises The stars still shine bright Each morning is a new day So much within my sight I move along like before Climbing mountains here and there Trying to look past All the many times I cared Yet the questions are still there Hanging dangerously over the cliff Wanting not to scream While self-doubt I try to lift I believed in you more Than you believed in yourself I believed in something Stronger than wealth Holding on to something That was a lie from the start Holding onto the visions As the clouds seem to part No matter what thoughts Rolled through your mind You left me,.... remember that No greater happiness you will find For I am not perfect Yet more than you might know My self-respect is greater As the oceans will always flow After everything that happened You think anger would override But everything just vanished No more shadows I will hide For I am not the one That must hide and run away I face my problems head on And say what I must say If you haven't figured yet Running doesn't do a thing Memories remain inside you With each and every fling The friendships that were created In the life you left behind The Bonds that were made You will never again find Too many cared for you They were always there Helping you through the times Of your saddened nightly stare I know more about you now Than I ever care to tell But that doesn't change my thoughts You wear a mask and veil To cover up the man That you know you can be To cover up the lies Of the man you want to be A friend, like a candle, is most needed in the darkness. |
