I know your plans don’t include me. But, is there room for one more? I’ll hide away in the glove compartment of your car. No one will notice. I’ll be really quiet. I’ll only sing the songs that are playing on your CD. I’ll only laugh when everyone else laughs. I’ll giggle softly and wistfully. You won’t have to explain me. I just want to go too. Please take me with you. I promise not to disappoint. I promise to try to be everything you want me to be. I know all your friends will be there. But does that mean I can’t come too? I’ll stay in the shadows. I won’t steal the light. I promise I won’t ruin your night. I’ll eat with my mouth closed. I’ll only breathe through my nose. My hands are clean; My breath is fresh. I’m wearing cool clothes. My hair is long; just the way you like it. I grew it out for you. I learned how to chew my food for you. I learned how to walk and talk and laugh just the way you want me to. I won’t make jokes. I won’t spill my drink. I won’t talk about myself. I won’t think. I won’t bite my lips. I won’t click my nails. I’ll keep my feet still. I know how it annoys you when I swing my leg while sitting in a chair. I won’t talk about books. I’ll try not to appear smart. I don’t want to make your friends feel bad. I won’t act overly happy But I won’t act mad, And I’ll never let people know that I’m sad. |

I completely agree! Thank you so much for your reply Cpat. This poem was written over a year ago. I'm kindof going back and posting poems I never put here before. And get some feedback.  |
