The Knight and the Lady

The Knight gazed forth from the high castle wall,
Past the golden fields and the forest green;
Dreaming of the Lady  who held him in thrall
Waiting in the meadow -- his cherished Queen.

For there in his hand Her letter of love
Proclaimed Her love for none but his heart —
He thanked the Fate and the Heavens above
As he crossed the drawbridge to Her depart —

And he pressed on in a full gallop stride
Thru the swirling dust; the fields but a blur,
Never was short time such an endless ride --
For he thought of naught but close holding Her.

Then at last he reached the sunlit place
Where She had awaited his breathless rush.
He reached to Her and in their embrace
The world reduced to a subdued hush.

He knelt down upon the meadow ground
And took Her hand to hold in his own.
Her letter of love to his heart was bound
As he whispered these words for Her alone:

“Your Love so deep within my heart I hold,
That no power nor force can tear apart.
Through the Dark and the Light, and days untold,
Your words shall be engraved across my heart.”

A stunning tale of love and romance that was truly enjoyed by this hopeless romantic.  I will wait in anticipation for more of your marvellous tales.  I hope you don't mind me putting this picture in, it is one of my favourites and I hope you like it.

Take care.........Sue
