In a state of disrepair...

0 posted 2004-05-20 09:11 AM

I never was a junkie, that much I'll always know.
I was merely feeling down and gave into the low.

I saw a pretty powder, its' face a yellow gold
I pumped it in my veins and let the feeling grow.
I felt a thousand lovers at every corner of my soul
and let them have their way with me, no one has to know.
I had uncounted epiphanies contained in single thoughts
I felt them change my mind; a thing I never sought.
I dreamt a dream of burning, as if the sun were in my blood;
I dreamt a dream of water that had come to cool by flood.
I saw that this was heaven; real life was never complete
Before I found this nectar; this recipe for retreat.
I saw that I was perfect and I saw that death is sweet.

I always was a junkie, that much I'll never know.
I was merely feeling down and gave into the flow.

I saw a shocking sight, its' face a yellow grey
I screamed it to the mirror and heard the sobbing grow.
I felt a thousand pincers at every corner of my soul
and let them have their way with me, now everybody knows.
I had uncounted epiphanies contained by rabid thoughts
I tried to change my mind; a thing I've never sought.
I felt a dream of burning, as if the sun where in my blood;
I wished I had some water so I could drown by flood.
I saw that this was hell on earth; life was all complete
Before I found this nectar; this recipe for defeat
I saw that I was useless and I saw why death is sweet.

I always was a junkie, that much I'll always know.
I was merely feeling down and gave into my soul.

"And the sun went down, and the stars came out far over the summer sea,
But never a moment ceased the fight of the one and the fifty-three."

Oh my goodness!  I see you're fairly new, but I'd never guess.  Welcome!  I'm definitely going to be happy to read your poetry.  This was exceptional.

How very courageous you are to allow us to view inside your soul.  Your words chilled me to the bone.  I hope your writing brings you comfort.  An absolutely powerful read.

Take care.......Sue

An amazing write in its honesty and sorrow.

Not only was this a tremendously well written poem, but it was a BRAVE one, as well!
