Solemn Green

It was a summer
of green dancing,

his eyes speaking,
promising light,
and she reveled,
tripping easily upon,
around,
then in light, laid under his words,
as laughter’s music swayed their times.

Books were read,
discussed, placed in trust
of lessons learned
and they, earning their right
in all ways,
spoke in churning dignity

such so, her eyes crinkled lovingly when he said

earth girls are easy,

then as pink rushed when he turned her over,
her back bare
to God’s light,
she felt him trace
letter by letter,
upon her skin,
slowly,
so that she should, could
thread
the living words as pearls,

one by one

he traced, nail to skin, with solemn
love
words he could not breathe

I
return
to
your
love
like
an
animal
in
migration

Ah.....memories are made of these and some only gain luster in time. Enjoyed.
