Pith Let me fill your ear with pith Be it clear or be it myth It lets upon the wind in play I beg you touch it on its way It wobbles like a butterfly It bobbles on a floating lie It does not stay but passes on Just like a crop that’s grown and gone Sometimes it’s passed from eye to eye Sometimes it stays within a sigh But mostly it is there to use Like the lighting of a fuse Pith is butter on your bread The ecstasy of dreams in bed The hand that holds the gift of core A ride into forevermore So wave the essence of its true It is a victory, a coup |
