Muted Colors Muted colors behind veils of mist, surrealistically I see things not really there, yet I wonder . . . when the mist swirls in eddies, has a spirit just walked pass. Does it see me as I see it, a muted color sitting in the mist; in black and white, painted clarity, or maybe not at all if I keep still. I hide behind glass looking through a window, touch my fingers to the pane, see mist swirl round their tips on the other side . . . has a spirit reached out to me, does it see me as just a cold, flat piece of glass, a mirror in which it sees itself . . . I open the window, the mist swirls in . . . I feel only a sense of self, see only mist, my reflection looking back from a cold, flat piece of glass. And I wonder . . . which is the mirror, and which is me. w. james beard, jr. (c) april 2004 |

Good stuff to ponder here James~ Seems our reflections are varied and interspersed, projecting the dark and light of day from either side. |
