we know this ground well enough it tells us we have changed tender awkward moments have grown up with the rain we bend against our will mightier than we appear sacrifice things we cannot see and say we'll stay for one more year. we'll walk proud like those before us and try hard not to cry stay up way too late suppose that we can fly we hurt from second-hand glory too cold to be sincere tell the walls to brace themselves and say we'll stay for one more year. our hands are still too young though we imagine we are bold wasted on symphonies and crushed ice and doing things we are told we stand with careful posture cruel repetitions ringing in our ears fall back on things taken for granted and say we'll stay for one more year. we catch each other's glances sympathize and beam tell ourselves we're missing it understanding it's a dream we talk of braver days to come when we can step back and hold this dear drag another day out of bed for now and say we'll stay for one more year. we stagger toward another victory carrying the remains of a song knowing this is still the place where our weary words belong we hold these things more tightly know that goodbyes can be severe take our eyes off the horizon and say we'll stay for one more year. joy has its own justice. and dreams are languid and lawless. and everything bows to beauty, when it's fierce and when it's flawless... |

Tuesday, This brought back memories of college when on days, I didn't want to get out of bed. After staying one more year to finish what I started, I'm glad I did! I like your poem a lot. |
