I am
forever falling
a leaf
swept up on a lonesome wind
unsettled by the freedom of flight

wanting only to return
to the dust
that bore me

the dust often takes flight on wind as well, to be there to accompany those lonely leaves home again....journeys shared.

we all are born and die, but its the "unsettling" inbetweens that determine
how productive your next cycle will be.

Ed, really really think this is a touching deeply affecting poem. I dont know the motivation, but your muse is dancing

I enjoyed this immensely on first reading... and enjoyed it even more as the depth of it settled into me. *S* The leaf has an excuse... it's no longer attached to the sustaining branches... but how many of us let fear cover us in familiar dust rather than risk that flight? *S* Excellent write!!

your poem and Suthern's words....

beautiful together:
"but how many of us let fear cover us in familiar dust rather than risk that flight?"

so true...

Absolutely love this.

Swept up...unsettled by the freedom...gotta love these lines. Perfect movement, developing the picture and making it personal at the same time. Well done, sir -- well done.

Edder darling poet supreme, my heart sister, Suthern, told me you could write well, in fact she said you wrote exceptionally well. I had to come and read, and I find that she has understated the case, you write utterly totally beautiful lines that caresses my soul with pure wonder. I find this piece utterly amazing, so perfectly presented, the words dropping into my soul like jewels of crystal clarity. An excellent poem and yes she’s right you are a writer of supreme excellence.

I don’t come into the main forum much these days I tend to stay reading in the archives, but occasionally, I can be lured out into the brighter busy bustle, normally only if Suthern has laid a trail of wonder to temp me out. And I’m so glad I did in this case, else I wouldn’t have read your words and to miss them would have been a tragedy. Thank you for the gift of them

Love and warm stuff

Edder,
what Marsha said times ten.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Thank you all for the kind words, your responses are indeed appreciated, and Suthern, dear lady, thank you for bringing life to this piece...
