Listen to the swishing of the wipers as they swipe the spray. Set in motion, syncopated, with the wheels they show the way. Cutting through the droplets splashing, downward from the darkened sky, tapping out in unison, the overture to roads we ply. As the drizzle slicks the pavement 'neath our shelter on the move, feel the beat in liquid measure slip into a cloud-burst groove. Streaking through the pools Earth -fallen, humming softly to the song of the falling rain that's calling passing storms to move along. Catch the rhythm as the heavens change from blackened clouds to gray, there to drift from overcast, to luminous, the lyrics say. see the last few notes which hover 'bove the pavement ( passing mist ) " Play some more", the wipers call, full knowing that I can't resist... even though the music's ended, still awash there's this refrain, these two lines which I've amended, echoes to the driving rain. |

Very interesting theme, and vivid as heck. Listen to the swishing of the wipers as they swipe the spray. Set in motion, syncopated, with the wheels they show the way. Cutting through the droplets splashing, downward from the darkened sky, tapping out in unison, the overture to roads we ply. good stuff! and i'm certain that if i drive into those trees, it would make less of a mess, than she's made of me... |

I too, hear music in the rhythms. (I've got a ceiling fan that plays a mean rumba when I put it on "high.") and you are a "sure-bet" read, doc. Always visual, tight meter, and clever word play. I always enjoy your Rx's. |

I'm glad to see this. The wipers have left a fascination to me, too. Nicely written. Love it! Sadie |

I felt the wipers through your wise use of rhythm in this poem -- very much enjoyed! |

Lucidity, Thanks. I appreciate the reply. Doc serenity, Pause, O.K., once again, I just had to see the picture,( you doing the rumba , that is.) Thanks, sweets. Doc Sadie, Thank you. I used a little trick I learned from Nan in writing this one. It's almost like word association, where you make a list of words that pop into your mind having to do with the subject, then incorporate them into the poem to a set meter. Still, (hopefully) learning. Thanks again. Doc iliana, Thanks. I think one of the most fascinating things about writing is that there are always new ways to express ones' self. There are no limitations, you are always free to explore. Hopefully, some of that carries through. Doc |
