Coming Home

I grew my wings, and I grew restless,
Longing for places I'd never seen;
Feeling the urge to explore new wonders,
Not knowing how great life had already been.

I left my nest, and soared the winds,
Soaking up the World like rays of the Sun,
I traveled far to exotic places,
And soon lost sight of where my journey had begun.

I strolled on beaches of pure white sands,
Walked through valleys of the deepest green;
Listened to the wind on the clearest of days,
And been soaked to the bone in the coldest rain.

I've met many people along the way,
Many friends I made as I roamed,
But the more I traveled, the more I saw,
The more I began to long for home.

I have learned that though the world is big,
And there is much to see and do;
You must never lose sight of the people you love,
And so, my friends, I am coming home to you.

~you reached inside, you touched my heart,
and I am all the better for it~

Welcome back Terry!!

As you can see there are many new names and faces and many of the old gang too...
I sure hope all those beautiful places you traveled to inspired you...I look forward to reading your new work. Great to have you back with us.

I love you more the further I go ...
before this existence ... you were always here inside of me.

Terry, what a really, really nice poem.  Having lived away from the small community I grew up in, I surely do identify with this.

Wow, Terry!

This is the third poem of yours I have read today and I must say, I am very impressed.

"Love alone is capable
of uniting human beings
in such a way as to
complete and fulfil them,
for it alone takes them
and joins them by what
is deepest in themselves"

Take care......Sue
