Sunshine -- for Freedom Day regarding the Constitution of the United States:

Upon the warp of sacrifice
They etched the scene of liberty
Wove within it hues of us,
And authored the masterwork with “We...”

Oh, the hours quill and parchment spent.
Through blood-run wars, great meaning lent,
To shape words’ purpose with design
Creating tapestry of heart and mind.

And wisely was this treasure lined
     Leaving space for changing times.

Our fathers’ gift, ours to hold.
Now, it’s our time to be bold.

iliana,
This is excellent!  I imagine it written in a history book.  A nice tribute to a great document.

Thanks, Sadie -- it's for Sunshine's Freedom Day presentation -- I think the deadline is very near -- perhaps you can contribute something, too??

Nice writing...only as long as there are some willing to sacrifice will there be a place of freedom for those unwilling to sacrifice...James

Particularly touching in this moment when we reflect as a people about all of honored traditions and the purpose of our intent.
Quite enjoyed the read.
