A FORTRESS In the shadow lands of erected barriers a fortress meant to crumble stands imposingly on a hill for mood effect looking down at me and underneath the sky’s majestic energy. No movement stirs the night into activity, the stars hang unmoved seemingly in wait, and the wind has retreated from the August moon too soon, it seems, now, today, in the month of May. On guard at the entrance two soldiers clutching arms, not weapons but the fleshy parts entwined and interlinked, and the heart is protected from infusions of true love meant to flame to red sad and lonely hues of pink. The fortress of the mind in defined angles, lines, musty from an overload of electrical controls sparks and sizzles constantly seeking to release the power of the soul only heart can so condone. And the sea rises up like a dream to turn the tide, thunder roars, lightening strikes, the wise merely grin, and the fortress of the mind no longer fortified sinks into fear of the consequence of sin. But loving is the heart, there’s power in a soul, and together they reclaim the sanity of mind to build again a home guarded by the stars and moon and solid in the turmoil of life’s windy nights!
