We sing our somber songs down through the times, on strings of lute and siren’s tunes, we plead to lay aside their swords and serpents’ crimes. On golden wings, we speak in prose and rhymes, of thrusts of blades and war’s amoral deeds. We sing our somber songs down through the times. We withhold our love, through lives and lifetimes to sway men’s thoughts, persuade them of the need to lay aside their swords and serpents’ crimes. We warn of omens, warbling dismal signs. From dark and frigid beds we freely bleed. We sing our somber songs down through the times. We beg to bring them home within war times; we call them to turn aside from green greed; to lay aside their swords and serpents’ crimes. We mourn alone through many Christmastimes; grinding grain to ferment nectarous mead. We sing our somber songs down through the times, to lay aside their swords and serpents’ crimes. |

Kudos to you, excellent job. I guess peace will only come when we learn to hold our enemy close to our chest like a brother or sister. I am keeping this keeper! |

Gads...I need to find some Kleenex...there have been so many beautiful poems and stories today...and this, Corinne, is going into my bible... there will always be rain songs...just as I pray there will always be life. And thank you for sharing part of your day with me...give your son a hug for me, please. |

I wish I could write a Villanelle... I wish I could write like you. I'm keeping this beauty too. Maree The clouds never expect it when it rains, but the sea, changes colours, but the sea, does not change. |

Thank you Mysteria! Hi Karilea, -- this is a beast of a form, the Villanelle. They should have named it "Villianelle." Heh. Not sure if I got the meter right, I have no ear for it! My anti-war poem (it was a response poem to another poem). Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day! Sey - they sure as heck are hard to write! Thank you! Thanks Iliana! Aww, Maree, you are sweet, thank you! Just keep writing and reading! Thanks Honeybunch and PassingShadows! Corinne |

Hey...that IS how I spell it! I've tried...they're a wicked form, they are... and I've been meaning to ask...how's the book coming? |
