I stumbled upon the word smitten today. It caught my attention. It sounds cute. Well I looked it up in the dictionary. It said: to SMITE means to deliver or deal a blow with or as if with the hand or something held. Well Is that like being smitten by the little surprise of finding out that i am not loved anymore a couple of days before Valentine's day. Or is it like/when... (feel free to continue this) |

Crazy4u -- Yes, I agree it must be but then too, smitten for you must mean that you were keen -- had a crush now crushed now blue. If smitten mean struck then it must be by lightning frightening a timid heart into hiding. Or it could be that arrow piercing, smiting that heart with a string on its quill someone pulls it apart. ...........and I'm out. |

Carzy4u There are apparently two meanings to the word (smitten) They seem to overlap in their connotation, yet it seems right to separate them. One is "to strike with a hard blow, to afflict" the other is "to affect or captivate" (Webster's College Dictionary) seems you have experienced both meanings. Now I would like to see a poem about your feelings...please e-mail me if you write one, as this forum moves so fast I sometimes miss things....Good job on your reply, iliana..... ________ice ><> |

yep, definite slap in the face, I'd say. Keep your chin up and heart open! |
