To Love

To love you dear with honesty and truth,
To honor you with every word and deed,
To not repeat the errors of my youth,
To ever strive to satisfy your needs,
To be the friend to patiently abide,
To let you know you’ll never be alone,
To be the one to catch the tears you’ve cried,
To tell you just how much you’ve gained and grown,
To trust you fervently without a qualm,
To guard you from the ones who mean you harm,
To speak to you respectfully and calm,
To soothe you when you’re faced with dire alarm,

To be the man you’ve always hoped to find,
To prove at last that love’s not always blind
