If I were President, my friends,
I'lltell you what I'd do.
I'd look hard at this land of ours
And make a change or two.
I'd make the congress tell me where
My hard-earned money went
That I should get at 65
If I were President.

If I were leader of this land
Car salesmen couldn't lie.
You'ld get to see the honest price
And then decide to buy.
Fine print would be in simple words
That folks could understand
And contracts would be handshakes if
I were to rule this land.

If I could be the man on top
The juries would all go.
We'd simply use truth serum to
Learn all we need to know.
"No contest" pleas would be outlawed...
You're guilty or you're not
And lawyers wouldn't rob you blind
If I were in top spot.

If I were Mister Number One
Insurances would pay
Amounts that they agreed to when
You signed your life away.
Mechanics wouldn't charge you for
The work they hadn't done
And guarantees would be upheld
If I were Number One.

If I were sitting in that chair
All crooks would be interred
And have to pay the victims for
The damages incurred.
Congressmen would have to live by
Laws that they passed there
And pay for their own limousines
If I were in that chair.

If I were top dog in the pound
There wouldn't be parole
And prisoners who broke the rules
Would wind up in the "hole".
Doctors who screwed up their patients
Wouldn't be around
But would be held responsible
If this dog ruled the pound.

If I were President...Vienna
Sausages would rule
And golf would be the only subject
Taught in any school.
All birds would have to chirp in rhyme
And papers only print
The news that makes one feel good
If I were President.

Well spoken, 'Deer.  May I add a verse as if I were you?

If I were the top sprayin' man,
The bugs would stand stock still.
I'd require them to stand out where
I could make sure of my kill.
I'd cancel their medical insurance,
And repeal their food stamp, too.
I'd rid the world of cockroaches,
(Except for maybe one or two.)

I'd move every tee box up
To make my drives seem long and true.
I'd make the cups one foot wide,
And my handicaps increased by two.
I'd put erasers on every pencil,
I use to record daily golf scores.
And mandate mulligans for me
If you elect me in Oh-four.

How's that, Mike?

If you were President,
I think the world would somehow be
A better place for all to live
In peaceful harmony.
You’d write the rules in flowing verse,
Each bill you’d pass would rhyme,
No boring words ... just poetry ...
All else would be a crime.
Iambic and heptameter
Would rule amongst the land,
Each law you’d pen would be received
With cheers and marching band.
Your policies would make us smile
And sigh in sheer content,
When written in poetic style,
If you were President.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, you KNOW I loved this, right?  Excellent Michael! If only we could live in the harmony this wonderful poem brought to mind. Very much enjoyed this, sweet poet!

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

(giggles) Well, you'd DEFINITELY make a better president than who we have know, hehehe, that's for sure! (big angel hugs) Ahhhhhhh...but if Toerag challenges you, hmmmmmm, I'll get back to you there, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Balladeer, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

well, happy to read that someone feels like me...we've got to start asking questions and making them account for their aloof attitude of thinking they deserve to go through our money like water.  Excellent read and write.

Ah, dear Kit, if I ever ran for President I know who my speechwriter would be!! Forget President - I'd be content just to run....for YOU!

Thanks all of you for joining in the fun. We all know the right things to do - we just can't get anybody to do them!!! Ah, well....perfect or not, it's the only life we've got so let's make the best of it!
