That day, not so long ago, I couldn't help the grin as you and Mom walked hand in hand toward the swings ~ It was a picture waiting to be taken. Over fifty years of best friends playing together, and oh how she giggled with each gentle breeze. A moment captured in time, I saw you both as you are now ~ and as you were ~ then; When your love was fresh, the marriage new ~ so much of life ahead. Now, a short year later ~ and the swing is empty, you seem lost Dad. But yesterday as you walked hand in hand with little Annie, your sweetheart's namesake, I heard you remember that day in the park, as you pushed your granddaughter on the swing ~ I felt a whispering breeze ~ As that giggle you loved ~ returned. |
