Water drips from somewhere.
A bat flits down the passage
Toward the Gulf Of Doom.

Caves hate those cutesie tourist names.
They just want to be left alone.

It's January...
The tourists have gone home
By the thousands.

But a cave once captured
Cannot be released.

If Marvel Cave could talk
It would just say
Enough....

Please.

What personalization!  Very good.  I shall rethink my steps in the future when following the road of the past.

(big hugggsssssss) I believe Mark Twain would be righteously upset if he saw the condition of the caves he hopped about in his boyhood, sweet friend, it is sad and I have seen the way the Ozark caves have been treated! (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Larry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

I think it most certainly would.  Nice personification here.

Oh, yes! I can see that particular cave saying exactly that....same thing Newport Beach says on Labor Day, waves tired of carrying all those tourists on all those rented bodyboards.....

You've a good eye, my friend.

Mans scent should not be found in every part of the world...perhaps this cave is one of those places , perhaps it is tired of being violated and wants to be left alone?
nice poem

It's me...Larry...
I live in Jefferson City, but love the Ozarks and love Marvel Cave.  So at the same time as I like to go there, I see tourists tramp thru by the thousands and feel sorry for the cave.  Kinda wish it was left wild.

Larry, I feel this way about our beach on
the Gulf Of Mexico. They surely don't look
the way they used to before all the buildings
on them. I wish they could have been left alone, too.
Hugs,
Ethel
