Whatever happened to the weekends at home the loveseat, the movies, together alone. Whatever happened to the home cooked dish the corkscrew, the bubbles, and the secret wish. Whatever happened to the kiss at first sight the moon, and the stars, and the walks at night. Whatever happened to the future we sought the workweek, the newsbeat, and the radio clock. Remember girl when we were sweethearts we stopped at nothing we gave it our heart. Whatever happened to the romance that soared and the long nights together, lusty and torrid. Whatever happened to the you lean on me the phone call, the notebook, the boy scout degree. Whatever happened to the quick second look the lover, the friend, the comfort we took. Whatever happened to the home with the porch the sunroom, the fireside, the cosy love port. Remember girl when we were sweethearts we stopped at nothing we gave it our heart. Whatever happened to the trips down the pike the sunshine, the bright rooms, the dancing at night. Whatever happened to the long evening gown the quiche, the entree, and the lights turned down. Whatever happened to the blue jeans and shorts the garden, the flowers, and the summer resort. Whatever happened to the you and the me the time, the virtue, and the love we both need? Remember girl when we were sweethearts we stopped at nothing we gave it our heart Whatever happened????????? Ain't doin nothin at all |

ethome Now that is a lyric. With the right music it would be sung for generations. |

ethome, I agree with Sy. Great lyrics for another song. Although soul searching,I enjoyed the many images brought about thereof. (I listened to the recording on the address mentioned in the discussion forum, I believe. Very nice. I hope others will take the same opportunity. Sadie |

ethome, I think this is the first time I have read your poetry :-). It took me down memory lane and left me with the question! I have to agree with the above comments...a song waiting to be sung, a question waiting to be answered! Enjoyed this, pictureme :-) |

Such a melancholic write, but so beautifully rendered. What happened? Life happened. ... but the present moment has its own beauty! Love, Margherita |

Yea...I can associate with this...it's like our pal Gordon sings: We're just some names that's all, scratched upon some wall...they use them well but what the hell...that's what walls are for.... |
