“Sit behind the E,” she said As she cranked knob on the bench. “If you wish to extend your range, Fluctuate dynamics, or empower key with lengthened touch.” Before I’d always had perspective Only of middle C, Knowing piano as a single instrument Uninvolved with physics of me, Levers, muscles, pivoting or henging sockets. How science and music are delicately webbed in harmonic interplay. [This message has been edited by Sadelite (04-05-2004 10:05 PM).] |

Grover, I learn new things every time I visit her-she has incredible insight, skill, and knowledge of music. I figured I ought to write some of this down so I can remember it!(She's trying to teach an old dog new tricks-Gee I wish I were about 15 again!) Take care. Thanks for commenting, Grover. Sadie Enchantress, I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. I didn't know if anyone out there would care for a quick piano tip (for adults) or not. Thanks for reading and commenting, Enchantress. I appreciate it. Take care, Sadie |

Marge, I'm deeply flattered that you shared your love of piano and the lesson your great grandmother taught. She must have been a wonderful person and pianist. Thank you for sharing this with me. Now I know one more facet that makes you the gem that you are. Thank you, again, Marge. Sadie |

I thought you were 15 again, Or at least 21; I like the idea of mechanics of the music, Once after trading a camera for a flute I took the time to study the physics involved in the making of the sound. The wind causing the oscillating waves that exit the hole along the length, Harmonics of sounds, Yet, With the understanding and a bit of practice Never became an Ian Anderson. Enjoyed your words Would enjoy listening to you play, Keep tickling those ivory and ebony keys. Gloom |

^*-Sadie-*^ I Really enjoyed this one.. reminded me of when I played the piano slightly at primary school! ...and then it all came screaming back to me when I did A-level physics. *Never Again!* However I'm sure you're much better!! I'll stick to the science part... thats more than enough to boggle my little mind ^*-Kimberley-*^ "Theres no posession, just obsession and growing depression" |

What a clever and interesting write! I studied piano for a couple of years and then just headed out on my own! I don't like reading music or being told how to play my music ~ I just like making it! I don't like following recipes either! I just do it all intuitively! lol Play on! EA |
