Watch a rabbit pop out of a poetic hat a common animal become rare just like that; Imagine its wild cousin must have triumphed in his day when and how its numbers dwindle, do I have a say? A picture of a bunny in a basket is on its way but rabbit stew portions grace silver trays; am not the keeper of the arc, or a guarantor of animal plenty am just a voyager in time, here to watch animal stores go empty... How long will the magician pull this critter from a hat, and for bunny disppearances to occur just like that? the bunny in the basket just a thing of the past of the hare in the field, are they here to last? My father used to pull rabbits out of hats....just ask Enchantress. I don't know whether magicians do that anymore. Good write here. Enjoyed. Chris Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale. |

Your thought provoking poem made me remember "Rudy" a rabbit I loved so much and who one day ... finished on the table. When I realised it was Rudy, I had a hysterical attack. At that time that was a true drama for me and I couldn't get over it for a long time. Love, Margherita |

I actually partook in the skinning of the beast in Calabria of course as long as I didn't raise it, I felt no attachment to it then. Now there is a sense of loss of taking for granted what we have as though we actually think whatever animal counts are will remain that way.... |
