When I was two
so young and new,
I didn't have a lot to do,
Just bathe and nap and play the game
of learning how to say my name.
Life was easy
way back then
And stayed that way till I was ten.
When I was ten
I ventured out.
To see what things were all about.
I looked at life through virgin eyes,
That lacked the skill to decern lies.
I believed in dreams come true.
Til I arrived at twenty two.
At twenty two I gave my heart.
And had the poor thing torn apart.
I learned that
nothing came for free.
And lived alone till thirty three.
At thirty three I tried once more
That lasted until thirty four.
Bitter now and full of doubt.
There's one thing I have figured out.
No matter what I try to do,
I'm no smarter now,
then when I was two.

I hear it being said that wisdom comes with age.I keep wondering what age would that be?
At times I feel as innocent as a child, then another as old as the rock of ages. I guess we all are innocent in ways where wisdom should be. When it comes to affairs of the heart we are all like children and grab the warmth of love with both hands just as a small babe grabs a lollipop for its sweet nectar.
Good one sis

Sometimes it feels that way,
doesn't it?
But I'll bet you
are a tad wiser now
than when you were two...

A good, thoughtful write.  Thank you!

Very cool. Enjoyed. To tell you the truth, I think I was smarter at two. Didn't have all the baggage then.
