Wake Up In The Mourning

Fighting off my problems I am praying for the best
But the day is growing old and I am longing for some rest
So I leave the world behind as I lie down on my bed
And visions of my lost love start entering my head

Inside my lonely heart her voice still echoes in refrain
And though she was so good to me, she's caused me too much pain
But now I can't distinguish any truth to what I'm feeling
So I lie awake this quiet night and stare up at the ceiling

Then completely unaware that I've surrendered to the night
Eventually I fall asleep and shield away the light
And as I slowly drift away, a smile paints my face
For once again I've come into that old familiar place

My lost love sits right next to me, just like in times of old
And once again her tender arms are mine alone to hold
Then in this peaceful slumber I forget that she has gone
And for another evening she will be with me till dawn

This dream feels like reality as I look in her eyes
But just as I had feared before, the sun begins to rise
And suddenly my clock is ringing six o'clock alarms
And with this interruption, she has vanished from my arms

But once again I close my eyes and try to fall asleep
Hoping she will reappear and be my girl to keep
But the dream has slowly followed her into the distant past
So I blame myself for thinking that my happiness would last

But I'm glad that for awhile there's a haven for my grief
And every night my dreams will bring me calming new relief
So I'll cherish every evening that bestows this fantasy
Because only when I've closed my eyes do I begin to see

Sincerely welcoming you to Passions, and thought you'd like to know which part I enjoyed most of this fine write.
