The line forms on the right babe,
and the cement bag
it's just there for the weight dear,
but not enough to bring you or I down.

Polished over my pledging
wrapped around heart stings,
links to your memory
keeping close beside you.

Life is full of curve balls
a hit and miss you,
but I'm still rootin' for the home team
wishing you could be here.

That was how you taught me
your signals I've passed down,
your lead to my offspring,
and the love that was meant to.

I need only wind up a music box
or field a line drive,
and play it over again Jack
where the shadow of your smile lies.

A forever snap shot
that comes back so clearly,
freeze framed over time
I won't ever let go of.

Standing under your doorway,
I can see you so clearly
hanging my childhood memorabilia
without speaking a word.

I can feel you so near me
outside where the wind chimes
and inside where the sun filters through
where I can still hold you.

*For my Dad* and the love of baseball as well as all the good times we shared.  Since he had lost his eyesight, I'm not sure he ever knew how   meaningful my sentimental memorabilia really is.  This is inspired by his, and my very own favorite song~ "Mack the Knife" He had a collection of music boxes,  and wound this one up so often.... that would be my music box collection nowadays.  I so loved standing there, just watching him in his peace and quiet~  Ah geez, that's what I get for dusting off my knick knacks.  I'm sorry I haven't been around much, I'm picking my battles and I still can't make up my mind which one is worth fighting for.  Love and hugs to all you good poets, I miss you~

“Mack the Knife” yes I remember that too “Macky Messer” the original in German is also a tune I never forgot.
Your words are incredibly intense and touching, dear friend.
Wishing you to have clarity about priorities.
Love and hugs. Margherita

this is a touching tribute...wonderful use of theme and word play...

a hit and miss you

thats a great line.

as to your closing comments...
theres really two reasons to be here...reading poetry...writing poetry..
shouldnt have to "fight battles" about any of that...problems come in when we get "distracted"
anything on-line that becomes a "fight" aint worth it.
take it from the moth...learned it the hard way. yayayayyayaya

Home is a feeling I buried in you ...
I'm alright, I'm alright ... It only hurts when I breathe ...

Dixie~ Thanks for always taking the time.  I'm glad you enjoyed.

Margherita~ I want so much to find that clarity.
Thank you for caring.

Hi Dawn~  Always good to see you here too, thanks.

EagleOne~  You warm my heart, and I thank you very much.

Oh James~ Thank you.   No more dirty pool,
I'll just break the que stick over my head next time.   ugh!

Karilea~  I am always delighted to have you read me.
Thanks for letting me know you were here.

Hi suthern~ There are times,  and then there are times I miss my Dad so much it aches.  This was one of those times.  Thank you for your kind and caring reply.

Helen~  Like I said, I'll never let go!  Thank you sweet one~

Nancy~   I'm timing out temporarily,  but I'll get back in the groove eventually.
Hugs and thanks~

Janet Marie~  How right you are, keeping the two separate avoids a lot of conflict.  Yep,  I'm learning the hard way, which explains why I feel I've just failed a test.   Thank you for reading, and for being who you are.

Maree~  So happy to see you here,  just having one of my moments ya know.
Many thanks and hugs~

Michele~  Thanks for your sweet words, and more importantly for sharing the gift of your friendship with me.    Love ya girlie~

Kacy~ Thank you for sharing the moment with me.  I suppose it's human nature, that when our loved ones pass away, we think of so many things left unsaid.

Nice to see you here, and thanks again.

Wonderful write from the heart....There's nothing more I can say but it's good to read your words. Also good to hear some of the words from the Three Penny Opera.

Thank you for nudging me Dunc~
I also want to thank the makers of lemon pledge,

Grover~  Loved your reply, my Dad will always be an inspiration,
and I loved him dearly.  Thank you ever so much.

Eric~  Yea well, my heart gets carried away more often than not,
in this case I suppose that would be a good thing.
Thank you for for the wonderful...
