Black Elk, stand by the tree, wait for the spirit guide. Ascend up into the rainbow teepee. Meet in council with the grandfathers. Painful dismemberment by demons, before purification is complete. Reborn spiritually, physically, descend to the earth on your little cloud, with renewed faith. ''Each soul is potentialy divine..the goal is to manifest that divinity'' |

I swear I've looked at the title of this piece for 20 minutes and skipped all around it...and then I finally peeked. What a delightful surprise. I LOVE THIS! Well done! Thank-you very much. Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history! |

You bet he is! A spirit-filled poem and Black Elk could teach us something, no doubt. Love, Margherita |

Ah...thank you. I have been missing the spirit of my own shaman-- and yes, the shaman is a subject dear to my heart, and I have tried many times to capture his spirit in words. I enjoyed this, GR. Thanks again. |

Goldenrose What a treat it was to find a poem that mentions one of my favorite people in history..."standing by the tree" (of life) whose branches are broken, yet still it is alive.(my interpetation).Or perhaps it is the center pole of the sundance lodge that you speak of? The second stanza leans my thought towards my second choice..though no dismemberment is found in the sundance ritual, certainly there are demons, pain being one, but used to purify thought and clear the mind. And perhaps the third stanza is about a sweat lodge, also used for purifacation "spritually and Physically" The "little cloud" being the steam that rises as a soap to cleanse the body and mind? All, of course leading to "renewed faith" Hope I am at least close in my interpretation... enjoyed _________ice ><> |
