My Journal At daybreak Dawn tapped upon the casement, And bathed my bleary eyes with rays of light, She asked me to rise without malcontent, And waggle off the abstruse dreams of night. She gave me a ledger titled "My Day," The pages were unmarked; no splash of ink, And she bid me to record what I may, With the deeds I'd do and thoughts I'd think. So I used the hours to write my tale, Filling the pages until finger sore, Yea my reflections seemed brittle and stale, But my thoughts had to be accounted for. That evening I read my words once again, And I felt a tremor within my heart, They were filled with anger, hatred, disdain, Aye incessant complaints for the most part. I wish I'd written a better memoir, In retrospection ere you take a look, Tomorrow before I write au revoir, I'll write of compassion in this...my book. Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history! |

"I wish I'd written a better memoir, In retrospection ere you take a look, Tomorrow before I write au revoir, I'll write of compassion in this...my book." Wonderful Kevin...I especially enjoyed this closing stanza. ~Smiles & Hugs, Nancy~ ~The breeze that kissed you on the face, |

Wow, Kevin, I love this write. I think words of the heart have to spill the "anger, hatred, disdain, Aye incessant complaints for the most part." in order to get to the matters of the heart. Therein lies the compassion "in this...my book." Bravo! ~K~ |
